Hi mga mama ug papa! 👋

If you’re trying to raise a Bisaya-speaking child (or just want to expose them to our roots), this is a fun way to start!

Starting this July, I’ll be posting Bisaya words to learn each week — made for the littles, and also for the young at heart, or Bisaya at heart. 💛 These will be common words you can actually use every day at home, while playing, or during routines. Every word counts, right?

This Month’s Focus: Greetings & Kind Words

We’re learning 4 simple but useful Bisaya words/phrases. Try using them in your routine — during breakfast, before bedtime, or when asking for something politely.

✅ Maayong buntag

Meaning: Good morning

💡 Use it when your child wakes up: “Maayong buntag, baby!”

✅ Maayong gabii

Meaning: Good evening

💡 Say it during your evening wind-down or after dinner.

✅ Palihug

Meaning: Please

💡 Try this when your child asks for help: “Palihug abli sa pultahan.” (Please open the door.)

✅ Salamat

Meaning: Thank you

💡 Practice saying “Salamat” after someone helps or gives something.

Why Start with Greetings?

Because they’re part of everyday life — and easy to remember! Repeating them daily helps kids build confidence and feel proud using our language.
